For the body
Hormones, sleep, gut health, inflammation, and nutrition treated as integral to psychiatric care — not separate from it.
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. — 1 Cor. 6:19
Integrative psychiatry · Middle Tennessee
A practice unhurried enough to know you.
A small psychiatric practice for women in Middle Tennessee, attending to body, mind, and spirit.
From John fifteen
“I am the vine; you are the branches.”
Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5
Our practice
Vine & Branch is a small psychiatric practice for women, built around a single conviction — that the work of restoration cannot be done at the speed of insurance billing or in fifteen-minute increments. We see fewer patients. We see them longer. We attend to the body alongside the mind, and we hold space for the spiritual life that shapes both.
We are board-certified in psychiatry and additionally trained through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Integrative Psychiatry Institute. We are openly Christian, and that conviction shapes our work without limiting whom we serve.
How we work
Hormones, sleep, gut health, inflammation, and nutrition treated as integral to psychiatric care — not separate from it.
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. — 1 Cor. 6:19
Long visits, careful prescribing, and the time to understand what is actually happening — not just what to medicate.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God. — James 1:5
For patients who want it, faith taken seriously as part of clinical care. For those who don't, the practice still serves with the same attention.
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. — James 5:13
The practice
Dr. Sarah McLaughlin is a board-certified psychiatrist with additional training through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Integrative Psychiatry Institute. Before founding Vine & Branch, she served as an assistant professor of psychiatry, teaching residents and shaping the clinical formation of the next generation of psychiatrists.
She has spent much of her career building practices from the ground up — designing the rhythm, the intake, the way a patient is met at the door. Vine & Branch is the practice she has long wanted to build: slower, more attentive, and rooted in the conviction that every patient is fearfully and wonderfully made.
Before inquiring
We serve women.
Our clinical focus is calibrated to the conditions and seasons that most affect women's mental health, so the whole practice is built around them.
We practice in Tennessee.
We are licensed in Tennessee and meet with patients located in the state — in our Brentwood office, by secure video visit, or, when fitting, in their home.
We work outside insurance.
So that we can give you our full attention. The annual practice fee is $2,000 and the initial consultation is $1,200; everything is published openly on the care page.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
